Speeding up intersite DNS replication with an Active Directory environment

The following will demonstrate how you can manually invoke the replication of DNS zones within an intersite active directory environment. For this tutorial we will have a AD domain with two domain controllers: DC01 and DC02.

We shall firstly use the repadmin utility to invoke a manual sync of the DC we want to update with all other DC's in the domain (where 'DC01' is the DC we wish to update and the following is the naming context(s) we wish to update):

repadmin /syncall DC01 dc=DomainDnsZones,dc=you-domain,dc=com /d /e

Finally on the target domain controller we wish to update - we manually poll for any updated zones from the naming context:

dnscmd /zoneupdatefromds your-domain.com
