Federation between two Exchange organizations

A federated trust in Exchange allows two organizations to share free/busy (i.e. calender) information among other things. Within Exchange 2013 you can now also created a federated trust between Exchange Online as well.

Creating a federated trust can be broken down into the following three steps:

1. When creating a federated trust both parties use the Microsoft Federation Gateway (MFG) as a secure trust broker between the other organization.

2. An organizational relationship is a one to one relationship that allows an organization to share calender information with one another.
