Debugging Send and Recieving Email with the Transport Service on Exchange 2013

By default Exchange 2013 enables transport logging for both inbound and outbound mail - including a connectivity log.

In order to identify where these logs are kept we can either use the Exchange Shell:

Get-TransportService | FL *LogPath*

or simply use ECP:

Servers >> <Transport Server> >> Transport Logs

I have listed the default location for each type of log below:

Outbound Mail / Send Connector:
<ExchangeInstallationPath>TransportRoles\Logs\Hub\ProtocolLog\SmtpSend

Inbound Mail / Recieve Connector:
<ExchangeInstallationPath>TransportRoles\Logs\Hub\ProtocolLog\SmtpRecieve

Connectivity Log (For debugging dns, ip, etc. issues):
<ExchangeInstallationPath>\TransportRoles\Logs\Hub\Connectivity

Message Tracking:
<ExchangeInstallationPath>\TransportRoles\Logs\MessageTracking
