Accessing and Setting up Azure VMs with Remote Desktop

By default when you have created a VM the RDP service is available (internally - I.E. not via the internet) on the standard port of 3389, while externally (i.e. via internet) a random port is assigned for RDP. While this is certainly a security consideration - although might be impractical if you have a strict (and rightly so) firewall policy in your organization.

Now in order to change this we need to configure the VM enpoint settings - from the Azure Management Panel:

Virtual Machines >> Select Virtual Machine >> Enpoints > Remote Desktop >> Edit.
