How to export and import local group policies in Windows 7/8

You need to copy the "Machine" and "User" directories from the following folder on the source machine to the following folder on the target machine (overwriting everything - just make sure you make a backup first!):

%systemroot%\system32\grouppolicy

And then to apply these changes we use the gpupdate command:

gpupdate /force
